Louise Dustrude

In 2024, the San Juan Island community lost a good friend and long-time public trails advocate. Louise Dustrude was a strong, outspoken supporter of the SJC Land Bank and was one of the founding members of the SJI Trails Committee when it first came to life in 1999. 

Trails everywhere were a highlight of her outdoor activities with this loop becoming a favorite in her later years for its accessibility and being "downhill both ways”.

It is in her honor that we name this trail “Louise’s Loop”.
